Meet Skip – The Crowned Hedgehog of Hagen 54

Every great event deserves a great emblem, and for Hagen 54, that’s Skip – our crowned hedgehog mascot.

Skip is named in tribute to Skip Daniels, the legendary local caddie and trusted companion of Walter Hagen. Known for his unrivalled knowledge of the Kent links, Daniels played a pivotal role in guiding Hagen to multiple Open Championship victories and even caddied for Gene Sarazen during his 1932 Open triumph at Prince's.

The crowned hedgehog design carries layers of heritage: Hagen’s nickname “Haig” stems from the Old English word for “enclosure of hedges” – making a hedgehog a fitting symbol. Dressed in the colours of our three host clubs, Skip proudly represents the unity, tradition, and adventurous spirit of Hagen 54.
